The taste of Chili con carne

For this month’s Flavour Idea and to start off the New Year on a spicy note, we look at an iconic dish of Tex-Mex cuisine, Chili con carne.

Chili con carne finds its origin in the southwest of the US and is a part of the well-known Tex-Mex kitchen. The base ingredients of the dish are given away by its name: the meat is traditionally flavoured with a mixture of chili peppers, garlic, onion and cumin. Tomatoes and red beans are often added to this dish.

We applied our Chili con carne flavour in a red salsa sauce, making it a tasty sauce for dipping or a delicious condiment to compliment any dinner or barbeque.

Chili con carne goes well with guacamole, crème fraîche or grated Cheddar cheese.

The rich flavour of a tasty dish, made available as a convenient sauce.

Tasting note: herbal, spicy, warm.
