Flavour idea

Spring blossoms!

Nature is slowly but surely coming out of hibernation, it is springtime! The feeling of longer sunny days feels like pure luxury. And what of course is most striking is the return of colourful blossom on trees and plants that bring the barren landscape back to its most beautiful state of the year.

We did not have to think long about which portfolio does spring most justice as our flower flavouring range. The taste profile of our natural floral flavours are often associated with the feeling of spring, an aromatic opulence and a perfume-like experience is what defines this range of flavourings.

Flowers and their extracts play an important role in many kitchens and are a known ingredient in traditional recipes. In many restaurant kitchens, the use of edible flowers is a visually attractive addition to culinary prepared dishes.

Floral fruit filling
For this month, we developed a tasty fruit filling flavoured with both orange and lavender. Separately they are two strong flavours, but together they do not clash and complement each other in taste. This creates a flavour profile that is much richer than just orange or lavender on its own. Lavender is floral with hints of mint and rosemary, and orange provides the fresh sweet juiciness and a touch of bitterness. Used properly, it is the perfect taste to celebrate spring!

The taste of flowers
When you think of flowers, you think of a scent that will be imprinted in your memory forever. It triggers the senses and stimulates the brain to return to the actual times when you experienced the attractive smell. From the delicate and fruity taste of cherry blossom to the more heavy animalic notes of jasmine. Floral tastes are suitable for new product experimentation and will provide more depth and complexity. Flowers are part of a botanical taste category that is increasingly being used in beverages, chocolate, confectionery, dairy and candy. With this, the food industry caters for the increasingly demanding consumer in their search for unconventional taste experiences.

We are excited to tell you more about the possibilities of using various flower flavourings in your applications!
