Flavour idea

Thousand layers of flavour!

If there is one culinary item that the French excel at, it is definitely their exquisite pastries. With the mille-feuille as a great example!

Looking a bit like our famous Dutch tompouce, a traditional mille-feuille consists of three layers of puff pastry alternated with two layers of creamy filling. Mille-feuille gets its name from the preparation process of rolling out and folding the puff pastry, and literally means "a thousand layers".

And more interestingly, mille-feuille also offers at least a thousand possibilities in terms of taste!

What about some savoury inspiration? Do not just think of sugary sweets, progressive chefs are increasingly making their desserts both sweet and savoury. Flavouring traditional sweet pastries and desserts with savoury ingredients creates exciting new combinations and unexpected taste experiences.

With the power of our savoury flavours, a distinct culinary taste experience in your pastry or dessert is easily achieved. There are many options in creating different new taste. For this month’s flavour idea, we highlight three savoury flavours that go perfectly with sweet ingredients!

What about our blue cheese flavour with a cherry compote, a cream style mousse enriched with a smoked ham and melon flavouring or a forest mushroom flavouring to top off dark chocolate ganache?

Now that the trend in desserts and pastries is increasingly shifting towards sweet and savoury combinations, the product developer has access to suitable flavouring options to introduce a completely new taste sensation in pastry products. Please do ask us!
